The requirement applies not only to future devices but also to phones that have already been manufactured and are currently in the supply chain. For those units, companies are expected to roll out the app through software updates, ensuring uniform compliance.
The primary motivation behind this move is the rising concern over cyber fraud and the misuse of mobile connections. With incidents of cloned or spoofed IMEI numbers and fraud linked to stolen devices increasing each year, authorities have been emphasising the need for a unified protection system. The mandated application is designed to help users verify device authenticity, report suspicious activity and block or trace stolen phones through a centralised registry. According to government data, millions of users have already benefited from the platform, and the administration hopes that mandatory installation will further strengthen public security.
However, the decision has generated mixed reactions. Many users appreciate the intent to improve safety, but some are concerned about the app being non deletable.
