The investigation into the tragic fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa has revealed a complex web of corporate connections behind the establishment owned by Delhi based restaurateurs Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra. Reports indicate that the two brothers are associated with forty two companies that are all registered to a single residential address in North West Delhi. This discovery has raised questions about the structure of their business operations and drawn scrutiny from law enforcement and financial authorities.
The companies linked to the Luthras include a mix of private limited firms and limited liability partnerships. Most of these entities were incorporated in the last two years and appear on paper to operate from the same address. Investigators are examining whether this arrangement was used to conceal financial activity or obscure the true scope of the brothers business empire. Analysts have suggested that some of the companies may function as shell entities although no formal conclusions have been announced.
The timing of the investigation coincides with the criminal probe into the December six fire that killed twenty five people and shocked the nation. Authorities have noted that the rapid expansion of these companies suggests a corporate structure built more for appearances than substantive business activity. This raises concerns about transparency and accountability in hospitality ventures where public safety is critical.
Shortly after the incident the Luthra brothers reportedly left India, flying from Delhi to Phuket Thailand. Indian authorities issued an Interpol Blue Corner notice to track their movements and reports indicate that they are currently in custody in Thailand as extradition procedures move forward. Alongside the search for the brothers several individuals connected to the nightclub including managers and staff have been arrested. Courts in Delhi are hearing matters related to anticipatory bail for associates but the central focus remains on locating the owners and investigating their extensive corporate network.
The unfolding story highlights serious concerns about business practices and accountability.
