Apple is reportedly preparing one of its most ambitious iPhone lineups yet, with fresh leaks shedding light on the long rumoured iPhone Fold alongside the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. If these early details are accurate, Apple’s 2026 smartphone strategy could mark a major shift in design, performance and user experience.
The biggest highlight from the leak is the iPhone Fold, Apple’s first foldable smartphone.
The device is expected to feature a large inner display measuring close to 7.8 inches when unfolded, offering a tablet like experience in a compact form factor. On the outside, users may get a smaller cover display of around 5.3 inches for quick tasks and notifications. Apple is said to be focusing heavily on durability, with reports suggesting a near crease free OLED panel and a premium hinge mechanism designed to withstand long term use. Unlike the Pro models, the foldable iPhone may rely on Touch ID integrated into the side button instead of Face ID, possibly to save internal space.
Powering the iPhone Fold and the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to be Apple’s next generation A20 Pro chipset. Built on a more advanced manufacturing process, the chip is tipped to deliver noticeable gains in performance and power efficiency. Leaks suggest Apple may finally standardise 12GB of RAM across its premium models, allowing smoother multitasking, improved gaming performance and better support for future AI driven features in iOS.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to retain Apple’s familiar slab design but with subtle yet meaningful refinements. Display sizes are likely to remain similar to their predecessors, with the Pro model around 6.3 inches and the Pro Max close to 6.9 inches. Both phones are expected to use LTPO OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. One of the most talked about changes is under display Face ID, which could significantly reduce visible cutouts on the screen and move Apple closer to a true full screen iPhone.
Camera upgrades also feature prominently in the leak. The iPhone 18 Pro series is rumoured to sport a triple camera setup with three 48 megapixel sensors, including a main camera with variable aperture, an ultra wide lens and a periscope telephoto lens for improved optical zoom. This setup could give users more control over photography in different lighting conditions while pushing Apple’s computational photography even further. The iPhone Fold, on the other hand, is expected to feature a dual camera system, focusing more on versatility than extreme zoom capabilities.
Connectivity may see a boost as well, with Apple reportedly working on its in house C2 modem for improved 5G performance and efficiency. Battery life is also expected to improve across the lineup, particularly on the foldable model, which could house a larger battery to support the expansive inner display.
While pricing details remain unclear, early reports suggest the iPhone Fold will sit at the very top of Apple’s pricing ladder, likely making it the most expensive iPhone ever. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to follow Apple’s usual premium pricing strategy, with incremental increases possible due to new hardware and technologies.
