The latest startup ecosystem ranking released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has highlighted Gujarat Arunachal Pradesh and Goa as the top performers in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across India. Gujarat has maintained its leadership for the fifth consecutive year reflecting its consistent efforts in creating a supportive environment for startups. The state has invested in infrastructure mentoring and funding opportunities while promoting a culture of entrepreneurship across multiple sectors including software healthcare and food technology.
Arunachal Pradesh has emerged as a notable achiever among northeastern states demonstrating that startup growth is spreading beyond traditional metropolitan hubs. The state has focused on empowering youth and creating economic opportunities which has been recognised through its top ranking. Goa has also improved its standing in the rankings showcasing how smaller states are increasingly contributing to the national innovation landscape through effective policy support and investment in startup infrastructure.
The DPIIT evaluates states based on parameters such as policy initiatives funding support infrastructure and mentorship availability. The performance of these leading states underscores the growing maturity and geographical expansion of the Indian startup ecosystem. Other states including Karnataka Punjab Tamil Nadu Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have also performed well indicating competitive progress across the country.
