Apple iPhone Adds New Setting to Protect Your Location from Mobile Networks

Apple has introduced a new privacy feature in the latest iOS 26.3 update that allows iPhone users to prevent mobile networks from pinpointing their exact location. The setting called Limit Precise Location gives users greater control over the location information shared with carriers. When enabled, carriers can only see a general area instead of the precise street level location.

This feature enhances user privacy by reducing the ability of networks to track devices accurately while still allowing emergency services to access precise location data when needed. The setting does not affect GPS or location services used by apps, so navigation and other location based services continue to function normally.

Limit Precise Location is available on select iPhone and iPad models with cellular connectivity and works with supported carriers in different regions. Users can enable this feature by going to the settings menu, selecting cellular or mobile data options, and turning on Limit Precise Location. A device restart may be required for the change to take effect.
